The Position:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to support and guide our foster carers in creating a therapeutic environment for the children in their care. You will assist carers by developing and facilitating learning and development programs to help carers build support networks, understand the principles of foster care and ultimately be the best foster carer they can. You will partner with the Department for Child Protection and other trainers to provide a well-rounded education experience. With previous experience you will have strong self-reflective practices that allow you to understand how personal experiences shape values, beliefs and responses to children, families and colleague.
To be a successful applicant you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, community services or a related field (essential)
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Child Safe Environments Trainer (desirable)
- A sound understanding of the principles, values and legislation in South Australia that underpin Foster Care.
- The ability to consider the needs and strengths of individuals within the context of their family, social networks and community
- Previous experience within a strengths based, trauma informed practice approach
