- Assist young people to make the transition into their community and equip them with independent living skills!
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about connecting with young people and supporting them to become positive and independent. Youth Workers are responsible for positively engaging with young people in creative and flexible ways to develop and prepare for their independence.
Working closely in a supportive and committed Care Team, you will ensure that all young people have an active case plan that supports their independent skills development. If you are looking for a challenging role that makes a difference in the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you!
What do you need to bring?
- Relevant qualifications or experience in Youth Work, Social Work or similar
- Understanding of how to respond to the needs of young people who have been or are at risk
- Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Availability to be rostered on a variety of shifts, predominantly overnights
What can you expect to be doing?
- Support young people to develop in key areas such as emotional development, communication, social development, household management and finance management
- Actively engage with young people during times of stress or crisis using conflict resolution techniques
- Use your knowledge and skills to assess the needs of each individual
- Work as part of a committed and supportive care team
- Assist young people under Guardianship of the Minister become confident and transition into the community
