- Provide preventative and early intervention support to enhance children’s learning and supporting their families
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a passionate Family Connect Worker with experience in case management working with women from refugee background. The Family Connect Worker will provide preventative and early intervention support to refugee mothers at risk of isolation and in need of support to enhance their children’s learning and to support families experiencing challenges that are impacting their children.
In this rewarding role, you will work in a small team environment and be responsible for ensuring a whole of community response is used to build strong, cohesive, resilient communities through early intervention approaches that address emerging or prevailing issues impacting on social cohesion.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Ability to use strengths-based approach and consider the needs and strengths of individuals within the context of their family, social networks and community
- Proven communication skills to engage and establish rapport with families from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds
- Understanding of family dynamics with the capacity to work with people who are socially isolated, present issues clearly to family to make appropriate decisions and to contribute to assessments were necessary
- Ability to use trauma-informed practice in assessment processes Demonstrable ability to implement Child Focussed Practice and principles
- Proven community engagement strategies and knowledge of community development principles
What do you need to bring?
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent
- Experience in case management and trauma-informed practice
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop respectful and compassionate relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team environment
- Enthusiasm and compassion
